5 Questions to Supercharge Your Confidence
Jaineel Mistry
Do you ever find yourself sitting in leadership meetings, wanting to speak up, but feeling like you’re holding back? Or maybe you want to share your ideas online, that you know could make a difference, yet you feel held back like having jail bars across your chest?
This lack of confidence is something so many high achievers experience. You see others speak with boldness, but you feel stuck—like you don’t know how to step into your authentic leadership. And the more you focus on trying to build confidence, the more it feels out of reach.
If you continue waiting for confidence to magically appear, you’ll stay in the background. You’ll keep playing small, and the gap between where you are and where you want to be will only get wider. You’ll feel the frustration of knowing you have potential, but never quite fully stepping into it.
How long will you keep silencing your voice in meetings or holding back from big ideas because you’re waiting to feel confident?
Here’s the thing—it’s not about confidence. Confidence is the byproduct of something much deeper: clarity.
When you know who you are, what you stand for, and what you truly want, confidence follows. Clarity leads to courage. Courage leads to confidence. When you’re clear, you don’t second-guess yourself. You act, you speak up, you lead.
It all starts with doing the inner work and in this email, I share 5 questions you can ask yourself to start your journey of finding clarity.
1. What do you want people to say about you at your funeral?
Think about your funeral. What do you want people to say about you?
This exercise, inspired by Stephen Covey, helps you connect with who you truly are and what your values are. It’s not about ego—it’s about aligning with the qualities and impact you want to embody. When you know who you are, you become unstoppable in living your truth.
2. What makes you feel alive?
What lights you up? What topics make you geek out for hours? When do you feel most energetic? What makes you feel vibrant? These are clues to your calling. Pay attention to what makes you feel alive—this is what you’re meant to lean into.
3. If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would your next step be?
Imagine if failure wasn’t an option, whatever you did next would work for you. What moves would you make? Would you start a new business? Would you share a creative project? The direction you lean into here gives a powerful insight because they uncover what you really want. The more you connect with this desire, the greater clarity you’ll have on what your next steps are.
4. When do you feel most clear-minded?
When do you experience your moments of deep clarity and inner knowing? Is it during your morning coffee? In the shower? On a walk? Start putting yourself in those environments more often regularly to clear the mental fog. Make it part of your daily ritual.
5. “What do I want”?
Journaling on this one simple question is very powerful. Often the most difficult question to answer. What do you want in life—not just what you need or what’s “realistic”?
When many of my clients start working with me, they journal on this question daily for weeks, stripping away the surface-level desires until they uncover the truth. The deeper you go, the clearer it becomes. You cut through what you think you want, or the things you’ve been conditioned to believe you should want, and you get clear on what you really want.
People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills…There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind.” – Marcus Aurelius
