5 Lessons I’ve Learned From 7 Years of Coaching
Jaineel Mistry
Most of the world is chasing outer wealth. More revenue. More recognition. More “success.”
But without inner wealth, all of it feels hollow.
Over the last 7 years, I’ve coached founders, CEOs, and leaders who had everything the world told them they should want. Yet many felt stuck, exhausted, or quietly empty.
What made the difference wasn’t more doing. It was creating inner wealth – the strength, clarity, and energy that allows you to live in alignment with your truth and external success being a by-product of that.
Here are 5 lessons that have shaped my own journey and the journeys of my clients.
1. All transformation begins with ownership
Many people are successful on paper, but have a deep sense of “something feels off”. Despite achievements, you may feel reactive and a victim of your circumstances.
True ownership isn’t just “taking responsibility.” It’s what I call vibrational ownership – radical ownership in three core areas:
a. Ownership of how you see yourselfOur self-image is the thermostat of your life. Change it, and everything around you changes.
The way you see yourself is the lens through which the world sees you. If you carry an identity of “not enough,” no matter how much you achieve, you project that energy and life mirrors it back.
b. Ownership of the words you speakWords are spells and they carry vibration. When you say “I’m always stressed” or “I’ll never figure this out,” you create that reality. When you speak with clarity and conviction, you shift the field around you.
c. Ownership of your energyEvery room you walk into, you bring specific energy. People feel it before you speak. When you carry scarcity, people sense it. When you carry expansion, others rise to it.
The cost of not taking ownership: Your life becomes a reaction to what’s happening externally. You’re not setting your sail intentionally, so your ship simply goes in the direction of the wind. You’ll keep achieving things that don’t fulfill you, attracting people who drain you, and wondering why success feels so empty. Without vibrational ownership, you’ll spend years building someone else’s definition of success while your soul quietly dies inside.
Most people leak ownership in one of these areas. They blame the world for what is really being created within them.
Reflection: Which of the three are you leaking right now – your self-image, your words, or your energy?
2. Slowing down is a superpower and the only way to gohigher
Many of us are addicted to speed but your very speed is keeping us stuck.
The cost of constant speed is that you’ll live your entire life in reactive mode, making decisions from anxiety rather than clarity. You’ll miss the breakthrough insights that only come in stillness. Your relationships will suffer because you’re always “somewhere else” mentally. You’ll achieve goals that don’t actually fulfill you because you never slowed down to ask what you really wanted. Years will pass in a blur, and you’ll wonder where your life went.
Slowing down is how you go higher in consciousness.
Clarity and power doesn’t land in a rush. When you slow down, you hear the whispers your soul has been speaking all along.
It’s like being 35,000 feet high, looking down at your problems from a higher perspective. What once consumed your mind now seems small, and the solution becomes clear.
Practically, slowing down looks like:
When you slow down, you stop reacting to life and start creating from truth.
Reflection: Where in your week can you deliberately create space – so you stop rushing and start creating space to think at a higher level?
3. Feeling on purpose is a requirement for deliberate creation
Many people waiting for external conditions to change before you allow yourself to feel good.
The cost of waiting to feel good is that you’ll spend your entire life postponing joy, waiting for the next achievement to finally feel worthy. You’ll create from a place of lack and desperation, which attracts more of the same. Your energy will repel the very opportunities and people you’re trying to attract. You’ll achieve external success but feel internally empty because you conditioned yourself to only feel good when things go “right” and something is always going “wrong.”
You can create your state right now, regardless of circumstances. Imagine you being an artist. The paint is your thoughts, the picture on the canvas is your reality, and your attention is the paintbrush.
If your health isn’t where you want it, start embodying yourself as already strong and vital. If your business isn’t where you want it, carry the energy of someone who already leads with clarity.
Use your imagination not for worrying – but for dreaming. Focusing on aspects that make you feel peaceful now, even if most of your life feels chaotic. Practice the energy of your future self today.
Your external world is simply a reflection of the inner world you cultivate.
As your intentionally create this state internally, the Universe responds and the external world has no choice but to obey.
Reflection: What would it look like to feel the way you want to feel now, rather than waiting for conditions to change?
4. Finding your mission isn’t a luxury, it’s a matter of survival
In a world built on distraction, your mission demands devotion.
Your mission isn’t something you pursue on the side of life – it is the way into a life fully lived.
I think of Ashleigh, our tour guide in Mauritius during our honeymoon. When he opened his van door, I knew this would be extraordinary. The van was immaculate, he asked what music we’d like, and his energy was infectious.
This wasn’t just his job – it was his mission. He loved his island, cared for every detail, conducted his work with devotion. He took us to secret sunset spots, hidden markets, experiences only locals knew.
Ashleigh taught me that mission isn’t about scale – it’s about devotion. He found purpose in lifting others up and giving them experiences they’d never forget in an island he loves.
The cost of not having a mission is that you’ll drift through life, pulled by every shiny opportunity and comparison. You’ll say yes to things that drain you and no to things that could transform you. Without a North Star, you’ll waste years building other people’s dreams while your own soul slowly suffocates. You’ll reach the end of your life wondering what you were really here to do.
This is an area I’m actively working on. Staying focused on my mission vs chasing shiny objects!
Mission liberates you – because it becomes bigger than your fears.
Reflection: Where are you dabbling when life is asking you for devotion?
5. You can’t fail if you stay plugged in
There’s an infinite energy source flowing through you right now. Different cultures call it Chi, Mana, Prana – it’s the intelligence that beats your heart and spins the earth.
As Desmond Tutu said: “We are only the light bulbs, Richard, and our job is just to remain screwed in.”
This is why my clients who build inner wealth never truly “fail.” They keep plugging back in, no matter what storms they face. Th greatest leverage is accessing the infinite intelligence within you.
Failure only exists when you disconnect. Stay plugged into the Universal source, and even setbacks become fuel for becoming more of who you truly are. You see the setbacks as just part of the journey.
The cost of staying unplugged? You’ll live your life running on willpower alone until you inevitably burn out. You’ll feel chronically tired, make poor decisions from depletion, and struggle to show up as your best self for the people who matter most. You’ll achieve things through force rather than flow, making everything harder than it needs to be. Eventually, your health, relationships, and performance will all suffer because you’re operating disconnected from your source.
When you master energy instead of just managing time, you access non-linear results, because when you stay plugged in, you are in a state of receiving miracles.
Practical fundamentals of staying plugged in:
Reflection: What daily practice reconnects you to that infinite energy and how can you return to it today?
Your moment is now
Creating inner wealth isn’t complicated. But it requires courage.
Take ownership of how you see yourself, the words you speak, and the energy you carry.
Slow down, so you can rise higher.
Practice feeling good now, no matter your circumstances.
Find and devote yourself to your mission.
Stay plugged in to the source that flows through you.
Do these consistently, and you won’t just build outer wealth – you’ll build a life that feels fully alive.
